Science

Science Subject Lead: Mike Lynch

Science is a key part of the teaching at Woodland and is interwoven through the curriculum on a day-to-day basis. We recognise that in an increasingly scientific and technological age children need to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes to better prepare them for modern life.

We have a well sequenced programme that builds knowledge and vocabulary in a well thought out way and ensures that learning is remembered for the long term. Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity, so all pupils are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils are encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. They are encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes

At Woodland we provide a stimulating, hands-on, inquiry-based curriculum, and an abundance of fun and exciting activities and  experiences that allow children to progress and flourish!
